If you like Restaurant Week, you’ll love Spa Week. From April 11th-April 17th several of Manhattan’s exclusive spas offer up different spa treatments for only $50. Now, who could say no to that? Get yourself ready for spring with a luxury treatment at one of the participating spas and give your winter skin the pampering session it is begging for.

Since Spa Week’s inception in 2004 it has quickly become a springtime ritual for many to reset their bodies and prepare for the upcoming months of sunshine and short sleeves. It’s founder, Cheryl Reid, was well aware of the benefits the spa and wellness lifestyle holds and was looking for a way to share it with New Yorkers in an affordable way which led her to come up with the concept behind the now popular week. Spa Week continues to grow to different cities and states all over the country. In NYC you’ll find participating spas in all five boroughs.

Our top suggestions for the downtown area include:

Haven Spa

How about booking yourself the ’Little Bitch Massage’? A 45-minute massage that is said to soothe PMS by using specific strokes, pressure points and aroma oils that soothe your mind and your body. If this doesn’t sound enticing, there are other treatments to try out. We suggest taking a closer look at the ‘Makizushi Body Wrap’ with Seaweed salt scrub – from their website: ”We start with a seaweed salt scrub, then wrap you in a seaweed mask and finish with an algae-based lotion. Offers a deeper level of detoxification, moisturizes, and exfoliates.”

Origo Spa Lounge

If your skin is looking a little gray after a dreary winter, have no fear. At Origo Spa Lounge they offer the ‘Red Ginseng Height Concentration Skin Treatment’ which uses ginseng’s purity and high concentration to give your energy levels a boost and regain your skin’s natural ability. You can also try the ‘’The Origo Special’ Back Treatment with Upper Back Scrub, 10 Minute Massage and Back Mask’ for a well-rounded pampering of your back.

Red Door Spa – Union Square

Elisabeth Arden’s Reed Door Spa is offering three special treatments for Spa Week. We’re thinking the ‘Spa Week De-Stress Body Treatment’ sounds like a wonderful way to let your body relax and just let go of all the stress the city life often entails. Treat yourself to a 50-minute de-stress and you’ll walk out the door ready to take on the rushed city life once again.

Be sure to check out the different spas and treatments on Spa Week’s website. There are still plenty of treatments to choose from, but don’t wait too long – hurry on over and book yourself a treatment that will fit you and your body’s needs.
