A city that boasts major homegrown designers such as Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang, New York is a place where the hopes and dreams of aspiring fashion mavens run as wild as the patterns of the fabrics on the catwalk. Young & Able is a New-York based retailer that creates a community for these young designers, helping talented individuals achieve new heights in their careers. ‘Made in New York,’ their most recent event held at the Carlton Hotel, introduced the newest collections from four up-and-coming labels: KAI New York, Katherine Kung, Luba Gnasevych, and Mimi New York. Not only did the event showcase the abilities of local designers to compete with the likes of high-end names, but it also placed them in the spotlight before a larger audience, inspiring thousands of other fledglings to pursue their passions to a higher degree.

From Kung’s tailored, feminine pieces to Gnasevych’s edgy, leather creations, there was enough contrast between the collections to pique everybody’s interest. Structure was a key feature in many of the garments, emphasizing the modernity and elegance of the urban female.
