WEEKLY MOVING TIP FROM FLATRATE #8

by | Jul 16, 2015 | Downtown Living

FlatRate has all the resources to make sure that your move is as seamless as possible! These include great tips that you can use on your next move:

Packing Fine Art

First off, buy your boxes for this packing job, instead of looking for castoffs and free containers from the liquor store. The right size and shape are essential to safely transport paintings, other framed pieces and sculptures. For all your framed paintings you will want the proper containers and packing innards, like bubble wrap. Painter’s tape can help protect glass frames from shattering during a move. Tape the frame, wrap the painting in bubble wrap, place it in the right-sized box and carefully mark it, “Fragile.” That will keep your movers informed of the important contents. If you have unframed prints or posters, you can use roll tubes to prepare them for moving. For sculptures, use plenty of bubble wrap and place old sheet or towels in and around the piece once it is in the box. That will help with shifting and shock absorption, while also economically packing some of your linens.
