Set for Jul. 30 at 103 Washington Street — between Rector Street and Carlisle Street — there will be a Lower West Side Block Party running from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The Lower West Side — formerly known as the Syrian Quarter or Little Syria — was once a vibrant, diverse community populated by successive immigrants. These immigrants were initially of Irish and German descent, then later more predominately of Middle East and Slavic descent.

Presented by The Friends Of The Lower West Side and The Washington Street Historical Society, the event promises to include food, music, children’s activities and games, and architecture and historic preservation tours.
