On April 5th Loire Valley Wines held their Spring to Loire event at The Park NYC. Despite a little cooler weather there wasn’t anything to be put on the cheerful mood. The event consisted of a luncheon for selected members of the press and a walk-around wine tasting for a larger number of guests.

At the luncheon the attendees were served five courses and red wine pairings from The Parks’s Executive Chef, David Coleman. On the menu was a soup, an appetizer, two courses and a cheese plate to round out the luncheon. These were accompanied by no less than nine red wines from Loire Valley. Presenting the wines was Caleb Ganzer, the head sommelier at Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels, who guided the guests expertly over the fresh and fruity to the rich and earthy red wines of Loire Valley.

At the tasting, happening at the same time, a larger group of guests had the opportunity to mingle while tasting a wide array of Loire Valley’s wines – from reds and whites to sparkling and rosés from 27 different importers. With over 200 people attending, the walk-around tasting the chatter was lively and wine was sipped. When everyone had cleared out The Park was left with a lingering taste of spring and warmer weather.
