Pip’s Island, an immersive children’s live adventure, which opened its doors to the public, on Nov. 12. The show is a limited engagement, open through Jan. 8, 2017, and ticket sales have been strong.
The pioneering concept, which was three years in the making, is unlike anything on the market worldwide. Children, aged 4-10, are transported into a fantastical world, filled with imaginative characters that are brought to life by live actors, incredible animated puppetry and unique and inventive gadgetry. Attendees embark on an hour-long adventure across 12 diverse and surreal environments to save Pip’s Island. It’s akin to entering a video game with the children conquering challenges and meeting an array of colorful characters.
The experiential and family-friendly destination is the brain child of brother and sister duo Rami and Rania Ajami. They have been able to capture children’s imaginations through the use of digital and technical wizardry, in addition to old-fashioned imagination and storytelling. And the audience is invited and encouraged to be a part of the interactive storytelling experience. It is a unique experience that will be sure to entertain and capture children’s hearts.
One of the aspects about the experience that explorers will love is the chance to earn badges, or “sparks,” by completing activities developed by Pip’s Island experts. The team has been working on the program and educational aspects, utilizing the latest trends in play and educational curriculum. Explorers are sent on their mission to find Pip’s Island and to earn five badges on their expedition. Explorers will be asked to sing, dance and move their way through each new challenge. No two experiences are alike. Kids are going to love this new and unique experience and so will parents.
In addition to the hour-long theatrical experience, explorers are invited to stop at the Pip’s Island Café for lite bites, desserts and beverages. There is also a gift shop, full of educational toys and souvenirs that may ignite a love of math, science and more STEM-based subjects that parents may appreciate.
The Chelsea-based location at Skylight Modern is near the High Line, as well as a number of restaurants in the neighborhood.
