NYC Mission Society’s Champions for Children 2016 Gala Is Approaching

The NYC Mission Society, who aims to improve the lives of children, youth, and families in New York City through educational support, workforce development, restorative justice, and supportive services, is hosting its 2016 Champions for Children Gala. The extravagant event will help raise awareness and funds for the society’s benevolent mission as well as recognize exceptional individuals within the community.

As part of the gala, which takes place on Wednesday, April 13, the society will honor Afro Latin Jazz Alliance (ALJA) Founder and Artistic Director and multiple Grammy Award winner Arturo O’Farrill.

Led by Jean Shafiroff, this year’s Gala committee includes: Colbert Narcisse and Katrina and Don Peebles as Honorary Chairs; and Peggy and John Bader, Missy Kilroy and John Moorhead, Leah and Stan Rumbough, and, Yemi and Patrick Vatel (Committee Members); and, Brooke Laing (Auction Chair). WABC-TV Anchor, Bill Ritter will host.

Being an active philanthropist in both Manhattan and Southhampton, Shafiroff serves on the boards of many organizations. She also attends/ aids in the production of many charitable events in both areas.
