Gogobot is an innovative planning tool that tailors recommendations for places to stay, eat and play to your specific tastes. It also allows you to share your great experiences with people who have the same interests as you; people in your “tribes”. Gogobot’s ‘GoGo This Week’ feature empowers you to discover and take advantage of great events, openings and exhibits throughout the city each week. Here are some exciting events and sites to check out in downtown New York this week, courtesy of Gogobot. Visit the website or download the app for more GoGo This Week upcoming events.

1. Tropical Christmas

Boilermaker (East Village)

Mon-Wed 5pm-2am;Thur-Fri 5pm-4am; Sat 4pm-4am; Sun 4pm-2am (through Dec, 24th)

We think a holiday drink should  remind you of the joys of Christmas, and, at the same time sweep you away on a tropical vacation, far from the jolliness, gifts and family. The drink specials at Boilermaker’s Sippin’ Santa Surf Shack holiday pop-up bar have that perfect balance of holiday cheer and tropical buzz to help you coast through the holidays. Get the Toboggan Nog (Jamaican rum and homemade pumpkin spice eggnog) or A Snowball’s Chance (scotch, pineapple cordial, allspice dram and absinthe).

2. Job Talk

Joe’s Pub (East Village)

Thurs, Dec 17th at 7pm

You don’t have to love your job, you just have to love talking about it. We love Employee of the Month’s host Catie Lazarus because she asks unorthodox questions that we want to ask but lack the sort of wit that makes her show so hilarious, engaging and informative. This month Catie sits down with Jason Biggs,  Bobby Cannavale and Paola Antonelli, with musical guest Binky Griptite.

3. Food52 Pop-Up Shop

Union Square (at 17th Street)

Mon-Tues, Thur-Fri 10am-8pm; Wed 8am-6pm;Sat 9am-8pm; Sun 11am-7pm (Through Sun, Dec 20th)

Our favorite food and cooking website Food52 has set up a pop-up holiday gift store. With so many unique, exclusive and awesome gifts to choose from, it is going to be very hard to cross names off our gift list. The team is providing hot popcorn, Christmas movies and free personal shoppers services.

4. Wine and Cheese

Black Wine Label Wine Merchants (Chelsea)

Sat, Dec 19th from 4-5pm

Nothing keeps us warm in winter like having our hand wrapped around a full bodied glass of red wine, while the other hand searches the serving platter for the perfect triangle of cheese. Black Wine Labels has invited Stinky BKLYN to present some of their favorite wine and cheese pairings, and you definitely want to be there .

5. Sultry Christmas Songs

Bowery Ballroom (LES)

Tues, Dec 15th at 9pm

For a little folk and a little soul in our Christmas, we are going to see Johnnyswim, a husband and wife team whose sultry Christmas songs make our hearts skip a beat. Their Monday show has  already sold out so you better snatch up these tickets fast. Tickets start at $30

6. Share the Love NYers!

God’s Love We Deliver (SoHo)

Through December

We will be donating $1 per every December review of 100+ characters written by our NYC area users to God’s Love We Deliver! In addition to our donation, for those of you in the area on Monday, 12/28, and have time during the day, we are holding a volunteering event at their site. We will be cutting, chopping, and trimming, ensuring that each meal has Gogobot’s care behind it. For every volunteer, an extra $5 will be added to the donation.
