Sporty streetwear was the main inspiration for the spring 2014 Balenciaga collection by Alexander Wang. His theme for this season is a mix of the codes from the Cristobal Balenciaga archive, along with a Downtown, New York aesthetic. Some of the highlights of the show include woven leather A-line skirts with cropped jackets in architectural, cocooning shapes. Wang also focused this season on accessories with minimal, yet feminine, designs, like bra-straps heels and mirrored-cat eye sunglasses.
His combination of textures and pastel colors are a sign that he’s moving in the right direction.
