APEX for Youth 23rd Anniversary Inspiration Awards Gala Dinner

On Wednesday, April 15, the Apex for Youth hosted their annual Inspiration Awards Gala dinner, where they recognized individuals in the community who inspire New York City’s under-privileged youth to create and achieve their dreams.

The 2015 Honorees were Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman of the Hang Lung Group Limited, Eva Chen, the Chief Creative Officer of the Lucky Group and editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine, and Gregory Yep, the former Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Pepsico. Each of these honorees have done so much in encouraging others to do more in fulfilling their dreams within the community.

Among other highlights of the night included a special guest speaker, Shu Min He, who shared her personal experience working with Apex. A performance by students from P.S. 184 followed, as well as a viewing of the Apex for Youth Gala video.

Apex for Youth delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC. They recruit working professionals to volunteer and become positive role models who inspire youth to expand their horizons and envision what is possible for their lives. Through mentoring and educational programs that serve students from 1st to 12th grade, Apex volunteers guide and support youth to become confident, be ready for college and give back to the community.

The event was held at a local downtown favorite, Cipriani’s on Wall Street. It was the perfect location to bring notable people from the community to celebrate such an inspiring and amazing cause. The venue was gorgeous, with high, gilded ceilings and plenty of space for patrons to mingle with each other. There was also a silent auction to help raise money for the organization.

Apex does so much for the Asian community, and there are opportunities to help out as well! They are always looking for more volunteers to get involved in their programs, and it is truly inspiring how this organization manages to change the lives of so many in its path.
