The Affordable Art Fair continues to celebrate its  fifteenth global anniversary with a show in New York City this fall. Created by Will Ramsay, the Affordable Art Fair was originally launched in Battersea Park, United Kingdom in October 1999. The fair attracted about 10,000 people who not only looked at the art pieces with awe, but were also able to buy the pieces that they loved at a low price. The pieces, which range from $100 – $10,000, usually are brought for millions of dollars at auctions. After two successful years, the fair opened a second location in New York and its continued success led to its expansion to other major cities such as Amsterdam, Bristol, Brussels, Milan, Singapore, Hamburg, Mexico City, Stockholm, Hong Kong and Maastricht, and added another fair in London. As of now, over one million people have visited the Affordable Art Fair and over $300 million worth of art has been sold.

Melissa Netecke, marketing manager of Affordable Art Fair New York team, explains that what makes this fair so popular and successful is that “you don’t have to be a millionaire to buy art.” You just have to find a piece that you love and buy it. Attendees don’t have to worry about exceeding their financial budget — they don’t even need to worry about shipping, fair workers wrap up the art on site; customers can take purchases home the very same day. The fair also features 50 – 80 galleries that exhibit a wide variety of artists from well-known artists to new artists trying to make a name for themselves.

New York holds two annual shows in two different locations each year. Recently, there was a spring show, and there will be one in the fall from September 25 through September 29 at The Tunnel (269 11th Avenue).
