Presenting his first ever major New York exhibition, German artist Albert Oehlen will be unveiling a collection of contemporary paintings, called Albert Oehlen: Home and Garden. The exhibit will take place in downtown Manhattan’s The New Museum.

The exhibition will be open to the public from June 11 to September 13; 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002.

The collection will contain select pieces of Oehlen’s early work. This includes his self-portraits, computer paintings, and switch paintings from the 1990’s. The pieces are all curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Gary Carrion-Murayari, Kraus Family Curator, and Natalie Bell.

His more recent works depict a fusion of aggressive brushstrokes and advertising signage. The exhibition contrasts inside versus outside, nature versus culture, and irony versus sincerity.
