In advance of the group’s Jun. 28 show at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2, Charlie Faye & The Fayettes are premiering “Green Light” via Downtown.

From Charlie herself: “This song melds a ’60s sound with 2016 attitude, as the Fayettes beckon to a hesitant guy to ‘make your move.'”

To put it politely, one can hear the Phil Spector influence in the music, but The Ronettes would have been appalled at the directness within the lyrics. In turn, expect smart, 1960’s-influenced soul-pop from Charlie, BettySoo and Akina Adderley.

With regards to that show at Rockwood, Charlie noted: “New York is my first hometown, and it’s where I started playing music. So I’m especially excited to be coming back to Rockwood with the Fayettes — I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’re doing with our live show.”

Charlie Faye & The Fayettes’ self-titled album is out on Jun. 10.
