Classically trained pastry chef/cookbook author/instructor Abby Dodge has just released her new book, The Everyday Baker. The book, a culmination of four years of work, is a technique driven approach to tackling everyday baking needs.

“We felt it was very important, my editor and myself, to produce a book that would last forever and go well beyond the recipes that are in this book,” said Dodge, “By that I mean that it was really more about the technique than just the recipe.”

The book is meant for all levels of bakers, focusing on both basic knowledge and the interesting twists of tastes involved in baking bread, cookies and just about everything else.

“I think it will reach bakers of all skill levels, especially beginner bakers,” said Dodge.

Dodge hopes that bakers will be encouraged to experiment and make mistakes, citing that some of her own mistakes have been reworked into delicious recipes.

“Our teachers always taught us that you learn the most from your mistakes,” said Dodge, “you gotta rework things.”

The book contains useful information covering all the basics as well as techniques that can be applied to multitudes of different recipes, all meant to ease people into the world of baking.

“I think that this book makes every day a great day for baking. It should be something that’s fun, something that’s joyous,” said Dodge.
