Developers And Designers Team Up With Brick-and-Mortar Retailers

When looking to furnish a new home or remodel your current one, some people may ask: How do I replicate that exact look I just saw? How do those spaces look so flawless?! Can I get them somewhere nearby?

What will likely begin as a creative endeavor can quickly turn into an overwhelming project — whether your dilemma stems from budget limitations, an uphill battle to find Pinterest-worthy pieces, or simply not knowing where to start.

In an age of instant gratification, developers and designers are increasingly turning to upscale home goods stores to design accessible residences. By bringing in brick-and-mortar retailers instead of hiring a costly, high-end interior designer, buyers can easily “shop the look” to recreate the brand’s signature style in the new home that they loved and avoid the struggle of starting from scratch.

We found three properties below that have recently tapped beloved retailers such as Restoration Hardware, Design Within Reach, and Matter to outfit their spaces.

88&90 Lexington

88&90 is an architectural anomaly that celebrates the marriage of old and new by merging a classic pre-war building with a modern post-war building in the heart of NoMad. 88 Lexington, the pre-war building, just unveiled a stunning new three-bedroom, three and a half bathroom model residence designed exclusively by interior-decorating retailer RH (formerly known as Restoration Hardware). Utilizing pieces from its RH Modern line, which boasts a more contemporary feel, the spacious 2,319 sqft residence is comprised of furnishings that blend tradition with contemporary, featuring a neutral color palette with artfully placed bold accents that offer a bit of character and playfulness. Bold décor such as a brass steer skull, Nomon clock and avant-garde canvases and artwork adorn the walls throughout the residence, emphasizing its gallery-inspired walls and creating a clean, timeless aesthetic with a modern touch.

The Lindley

The Lindley is a new 20-story, full-service condominium building in Murray Hill that emphasizes smart design, thoughtful planning, and sensible living, features 74 residences from studios through 3BRs. Design Within Reach, the leading home decor store for accessible modern design and sleek offerings, has collaborated to furnish the communal spaces and model home within The Lindley exclusively with pieces from their collection with the objective of creating contemporary turnkey ready spaces. Marrying neutral colors with a warm finish selection, the designs were created to maximize space and highlight a strategic mix of signature design staples with modern accent pieces to create a one of a kind residential experience that blends urban with glam in both public and private spaces.  Amenities will include a 24/7 concierge service, residents’ lounge, fitness center, resident superintendent, bike storage and private storage, and a roof garden with grilling and dining area, along with incredible New York City skyline views.

The Standish

The Standish’s model home represents the first time DDG has collaborated with acclaimed storefront/showroom Matter, clothing the residence with pieces from their Matter-Made line. The inspiration behind Residence C connects the building’s history and its turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts style with its East River vantage point and the desire to communicate a contemporary Brooklyn style and aesthetic. In order to create a space that acts as a refuge from the frenetic city, Matter assembled a foundation of classic materials such as brass, wood, and marble, all of which picked up on the finishes and materials incorporated into the actual design of the home by DDG. They then built upon this framework of warm neutrals by playing with texture and color in a way that feels contemporary and warm and adds a pop of vibrancy.
