With Summer 2016 right around the corner, acclaimed personal fitness trainer Reggie Chambers has shared his 3 favorite fitness moves with Downtown.

For each of these exercises, do 10 reps for per round. Try starting out with 2 rounds and then build up.

Exercise #1:

· “X” Burpees”: While doing a traditional burpee, as soon as you get up jump into an X with arms and legs spread instead of straight up.

Exercise #2:

· Raised Planks: Go into traditional plank pose with elbows on the ground under your shoulders, hands as fists. Raise your hips up and then back down in beginning pose. On the last rep and hold plank pose for 20 seconds.

According to Reggie: “It’s that time of year where everyone starts thinking about how to get in shape for the upcoming summer months. You can turn that winter gut into a summer butt by following these simple steps! Let’s start off with diet, a well-balanced diet is not only the foundation to getting toned and losing fat, but to being healthy as well. A good diet consists of 4 to 5 small meals per day, with no carbs included in your last meal. Another major key component is drinking plenty of water throughout the entire day, no sugary drinks!”

He continued: “Turning that winter gut into a summer butt requires hard work and dedication, this means following a good program and adhering to it. Something everyone should know is that everything starts in the morning, you need to get your metabolism started early to burn calories throughout the day which is why eating a healthy breakfast is important. I always suggest doing cardio first thing when you wake up, prior to eating, for at least 20 minutes. If it’s not possible to get your cardio done that early, do it after your workout. You should be working out 3 to 5 days per week, for 50 minutes at a time, if you want to achieve real results. If you stick to this routine you’ll be ready for summer in no time!”
