Last week New York City’s Downtown Alliance celebrated 20 years of service to the lower Manhattan community with a spectacular event at Cipriani’s newest downtown location.
Longtime chairman of The Downtown Alliance , Robert Douglass, was also honoured at the event, receiving the David Rockefeller Downtown Leadership Award. President of The Downtown Alliance, Jessica Lappin shared her excitement with event patrons, stating that the downtown community has been reborn and transformed in innovative ways.
DOWNTOWN Magazine’s CEO and Publisher Grace A. Capobianco attended the event, calling it a remarkable milestone for the downtown community.
“The event was an incredible turnout and was witnessed by all of the key leaders and businesses in the area that have been supported by the Downtown Alliance over the past 20 years”, she said.
Ms. Capobianco said the Downtown Alliance is a pillar of the community and attributes much of the growth and success within Lower Manhattan to their ongoing support and leadership.
“The metamorphosis I have witnessed within this community has been nothing short of a miracle and listening to Robert Douglass speak about the vision he had 20 years ago, compared to where our community is today was absolutely mesmerizing. I am so proud to be a part of it”, she said.
Ms. Capobianco also added she was excited to celebrate the growth of such a diverse and evolving community in the 5th Anniversary issue of DOWNTOWN Magazine, on stands this Spring.
Downtown’s premiere advocacy organisation has been working to improve all aspects of the lower Manhattan community since it was established in 1995, serving an area from City Hall to the Battery and from the East River to West Street.
It provides service, advocacy, research and information to advance the downtown area in all facets, pioneering what is now the fastest growing community in all of Manhattan.
