Superfoods That You MUST Try

There are some that you’ve heard about through the fitness craze that has been taking out culture by storm, like blueberries, salmon and kale. However, there are also some that you may not have heard of. Or maybe you didn’t take notice while they were popular.  Here are some superfoods that you may want to incorporate into your diet:

Chia seeds

It’s a superfood that’ll just blend into whatever dish you’re already making! How convenient.

Why is it good for you? Omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium

How do I use it? Sprinkle them over EVERYTHING!

Cacao / Cocoa Nibs

Any excuse to shove these bad boys down. Who doesn’t like chocolate? Lucky for us, there’s also major health benefits.

Why is it good for you? Flavonoids

How do I use it? Add to smoothies, sprinkle over cereal or yogurt.

Acai berries

Why is it good for you? Antioxidants

How do I use it? Add the berries into your food

Gojiberries

Why is it good for you? Vitamin C

How do I use it? Eat them whole, dried or in smoothies.

Seaweed

Why is it good for you? Omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, iodine and zinc

How do I use it? Sushi, wraps

Maca powder

Why is it good for you? Boosts energy, endurance and libido

How do I use it? Use it to bake, add to smoothies, sprinkle it over things

Kefir

Why is it good for you? Probiotics that helps digestion and boosts immune system.

How do I use it? Drink it, it’s fermented milk.

Hemp seeds

Why is it good for you? Protein, all essential amino acids, omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium and potassium

How do I use it? Add to soups, salads and pesto

Nutritional yeast

Why is it good for you? Great source of protein, fiber and great source of Vitamin B12 for vegans.

How do I use it? Sprinkle it on pastas and stir fries.

Black garlic

Why is it good for you? Fermented, therefore it stabilizes our intestines, which strengthen our immune systems.

How do I use it? Use this to make sauces, dressings and dips.
