1. New York is Poetry
Governors Island
Saturday, Jul. 30-Sunday, Jul. 31 from 11am-5pm

250 poets from across the 5 boroughs will converge on Governors Island for a two-day poetry cornucopia. This year’s poetic headlines are Jericho Brown, Matthew Yeager,  and Camille Rankine. With food, drinks, performance, readings, and art installations, you can spend the whole day immersed in poetry, New York style. FREE.

2. Really Good Beer
180 Maiden Lane (Financial District)
Thursday, Jul. 28 from 6-9pm

No summer is complete without a nice cold beer. Edibles Manhattan’s annual Good Beer event pairs some of the country’s best artisanal breweries with the city’s best eateries and food artisans. Come check out the beers and bites from Gramercy Tavern, Kat & Theo, Bierocracy and many more. Tickets start at $65.

3. Broken City
Check website for location (Financial District)
Through Monday, Aug. 1 (Check website for performance times)

Theater and real life, “Broken City” is a “street immersive” performance piece that invites audiences to hear New York stories (real and imagined) as they navigate the streets of Lower Manhattan. This one-of-a-kind theater performance confirms what avid travelers already know, that the soul of a city is found on its streets and in the stories of people who walk them. Tickets start at $25.

4. New Ice Cream Museum
Ice Cream Museum (Meatpacking District)
Friday,  Jul. 29-Wednesday Aug. 31 (Monday, Wednesday-Saturday from 11am- 9pm; Sunday 11am-8pm)

Highlights at the city’s first ever ice cream museum include a swimmable rainbow ‘sprinkle’ pool (you read right), edible balloons, a chocolate room, ice cream swings and other sweet, cool surprises. A “lick-able, likeable, shareable ice cream-centric experience,” this special museum pop-up  is only town only for the summer so you’ll want to get here before the show melts. Tickets are $18 for adults (just $12 for kids and grandma) and include ice cream.

5. Food Hunt
Columbus Park (Chinatown)
Saturday, Jul. 30 at 1pm

Let your taste buds do the walking on this delicious adventure! The Munch Around Chinatown Scavenger Hunt will take you around Chinatown and Little Italy, to “the most unusual and enticing restaurants, cafes, markets and even food carts.” You’ll answer an array of fun questions and learn about the vast offerings of these two great neighborhoods! Tickets are $24.50 (plus $10 cash for food purchases).

If you know of great events happening in your neck of the woods that might be a fit for a future GoGo This Week column, please feel free to email details about the event to events@gogobot.com
