Women’s Spring/Summer 2017 Trend Report

The time machine is back in effect for the Spring 2017 collections. The 80’s redux, from metallics to mini lengths and strong shoulders at Erdem, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Monse, Rodarte, and Saint Laurent. Taking us back to the “I want my MTV’ and Reagan era. Yes the 80’s are back!

“Flower power” also took a major role. Big, bold, graphic and colorful floral prints were apparent at Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and more. Motorcross Mondrian-esque prints were also in effect. Speed racer inspired looks from Fendi, Proenza Schouler, to Sonia Rykiel and Versace alike. Fatigues are here to stay. Utilitarian is going on strong. Khakis and army greens at Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Celine, and Loewe, in ruffled greens, sheers and mini camo. Wanderlust looks in patch work, printed sweeping lengths, ruched and layered dresses took a play at Alberta Ferretti, Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Etro, Lanvin, Oscar De La Renta, Roberto Cavalli and Valentino.

Beyond the shadow of doubt, rose was the prominent color of Spring 2017. Rosy hues appeared on various runways. Strong feminine tones and silhouettes at Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Givenchy, Hermes, Jil Sander, Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren, Valentino and Vetements. As the majestic Diana Vreeland so gracefully once said: “Pink is the navy blue of India.”

Accessory Spotlight: Versus Versace

The new Versus Versace line for him and her, has a very iconic look. Available in both time-only and chrono versions, its identity is expressed by the top ring with engraved double logo. The time-only version for women has a fresh look, with the Versace Lion in relief on the dial between the geometric hour indexes. The line comes in six colors, stylistically ranging from the most classic to strong and modern.

The version for men is a powerful chronograph: the XL case houses a quartz movement with three counters and an original succession of indexes and Arabic numeral hour markers. It comes in an energetic total look in black with blue dial and five different colors. The look is completed with a leather strap or IP gold/rose gold steel or two-color bracelet, with the central links in Clou de Paris like the dial.

Peking Road is another new, absolutely feminine timepiece clearly inspired by jewelry. Entirely in rose gold or IP yellow gold, it features a unique modular bracelet: in a playful, twist it comprises round links, where the iconic Lion stands out in 3D on large studs. In addition, it will easily fit all wrists because of the adjustable buckle. Made luminous by a geometric texture, the dial comes in a variety of colors.

Star Ferry is also a totally new collection of watches. With its distinctive architecture, the 38mm case has a decorated top ring, large centered lugs, and corrector buttons on either side of the crown. The day and date display is shown in two separate counters on a dial enhanced by crystals that reflect on the motion works. Available in both IP yellow and rose gold polished steel, Star Ferry is completed with a crocodile-print leather strap in five colors: black, white, midnight blue, teal green or champagne. Alternatively, the piece can be fitted with a metal bracelet, where the central links have the same decoration as the top ring.

Accessory Spotlight: Versace

Palazzo Empire is the new Versace watches icon. The Palazzo Empire collection has the same unique design and style of the Versace accessories collection. The bold 3D raised Medusa head seems to float above the center of the dial. It is positioned between two watch glasses, embellishing and enhancing the sunray guilloché dial. The top ring is adorned by an enameled Greek key design in colors that match the fine supple calfskin strap. It comes in dynamic colors, total white, resolute black, vibrant pink and an elegant total black version.

These are truly feminine, exquisite, luxurious and essential for your Spring wardrobe.

Dubai Black Sapphire. Engrossing as a forest, with lingering basenotes sprinkled throughout, Black Sapphire holds an obvious masculine appeal, yet has a mellowness that will compliment an assertively feminine woman. Its top notes—citrusy neroli blended with spicy-mellow saffron and beeswax, hinting of honey—are followed by Black Sapphire’s only floral, resplendent Turkish rose, surrounded by warm, balsamic gurjun, resinous cedarwood, and a hit of pungent pepper. The scent dries down with incense-rich oud and Siam benzoin, soothing sandalwood, cinnamon-like tolu balm, and earthy vetiver.

Dubai Jade. Vibrant and high-energy, Dubai Jade blends sparkling florals with languid incense. Starting of with nuanced wood violet leaves, tart raspberry, and warming cumin, it segues into a heart of classic florals—rose, lily, and jasmine—played out against crisp, clean cedarwood. A mélange of syrupy base notes—resinous amber and its botanic counterpart. ambrette, along with sensual musk, incense-rich oud, and leather-like birch tar—add a powerful resonance.

Dubai Garnet. Here, a romantic floral bouquet gets some unexpected partner notes. It starts with a brisk wakeup call: citrusy bergamot, light but musky blackberry, licorice-like cardamom, invigorating seaweed, and pink pepper that smells distinctly like a rose. Rose in fact is a major mid-note, accompanying those other florals, magnolia, jasmine, and lavender, along with succulent plum and spicy cumin. Classic woody and resinous base notes—musk, amber, myrrh and vetiver—give staying power, while oak moss adds a creamy-soft hint of chypre. These and all our Dubai scents are housed in the Bond No. 9 superstar bottle decked with Arabic starbursts on a gold background, while an arched door bearing the gemstone color each scent is named for beckons front and center.
