Hosted by Misty Copeland, the annual “Stars of Today Meets the Stars of Tomorrow” Gala on April 16 brings together an international roster of elite dancers alongside the next generation of rising talent.
We are thrilled to attend this year’s program, curated by Larissa Saveliev, Founder and Artistic Director of Youth America Grand Prix, which features a series of highly anticipated debuts and returns.
Joining me as my guest is Grigoriy Arutyunayan, founder of Big Apple Spine and the newest addition to DOWNTOWN Magazine’s board.

Among the evening’s highlights: Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko of La Scala Ballet will make their New York debut, performing selections from Caravaggio and Grand Pas Classique.
International star Polina Semionova returns to the stage with a powerful program that includes Manon and a reimagined Dying Swan, alongside contemporary dancer Braylon Browner.
The evening continues with standout performances from Reece Clarke of The Royal Ballet, joined by Christine Shevchenko and Roman Mejia in Le Corsaire.
Adding a contemporary edge, choreographer Melanie Hamrick presents an original work set to music by The Rolling Stones, alongside premieres by leading voices including Sharon Eyal, Itzik Galili, and Marco Goecke.
A defining moment of the evening will feature 100 of YAGP’s top young finalists from around the world, performing together in a grand showcase that underscores the organization’s mission: discovering and nurturing the next generation of global dance talent.
On April 18, YAGP’s “International Dance School Festival” shifts the spotlight entirely to emerging artists, featuring elite students from the world’s most prestigious institutions.
Participating schools include ABT Studio Company, The Royal Ballet School, La Scala Ballet Academy, and Princess Grace Academy, among others—each presenting works that reflect their unique artistic traditions, from classical repertoire to cutting-edge contemporary choreography.

A Global Stage for the Next Generation
Together, these two performances capture the full arc of ballet today—from its most celebrated international stars to the young dancers poised to define its future.
For New York’s cultural calendar, it’s more than a performance—it’s a rare, immersive look at the evolution of an art form, all under one roof at Lincoln Center.
