Going to the Hampton’s by car is madness, especially if it’s Independence Day weekend. Uber, the app that connects users to a driver at the tap of a button, has the solution: UberCHOPPER! Their plan is simple — “Skip the traffic out east and kick off the long weekend in the skies.” Using helicopters provided by BLADE, the app will arrange trips from Manhattan to the Hampton’s and back, and enables users either to grab a single seat, or launch their own crowd-sourced flight.

When your trip is booked, a private driver will pick you and your party up at the requested time and drop you at the helipad. When you land in East Hampton, another driver will be waiting to bring you to your final destination. If flying is not your style, Uber has it covered, just book one of their normal cabs for a fixed price.

This is a convenient, clever, and simple way to start a relaxing and fun weekend. The service will be available for the entire summer, and will gradually expand not only to the Hampton’s, but also to Montauk and Sandy Hook down to Cape May. What are you waiting for, grab a seat! We’ll see you in the Hampton’s.
