Tucked away under the High Line in the Meatpacking District, serving breakfast all day, greens and grains as well as dinner, is The Wild Son. The street is quiet and there isn’t much going on, until you stumble upon this cute café. The light space, rustic furniture and friendly waiters will instantly make you feel at home. Even if home is far from where you are, there’s something very warming and cozy about this place.

The food

The menu revolves around healthy sandwiches, greens and grains. Their sandwiches are our favorite items on the menu, hitting all the breakfast essentials. The Good Morning Sunshine is served with pulled braised bacon, officially changing the way you’d want your bacon for the rest of your life. Pulled braised, every day please! The bacon combined with the sunny egg, avocado, tomato and rosemary aioli really makes it a good morning.

The Grandma Anna has us wondering who Granny Anna is and if we can eat in her kitchen everyday: scrambled egg, house guanciale, broccoli rabe chimichurri, sweet hot pepper aioli on a fluffy brioche bun. For vegans, they serve us a roasted cauliflower steak sandwich that balance the spicy sauce with refreshing cucumbers and pickled onions. Food that’s pretty in pink sets the tone right for the rest of the day, right?

Sweets

The Wild Son also manage to give the sweeter options a healthy twist, offering gluten-free pancakes with turmeric butter and a blueberry corn waffle with housemade clabber cream. Clabber cream is similar to crème fraîche or a smooth ricotta, but all you really need to know is that you need it in your life. Maybe it isn’t ALL healthy at The Wild Son, but pair your food with a green juice, and you’ve got yourself a balanced breakfast with all the vitamins you’ll need.

An ideal spot for every mood, whether you’re looking for a cute breakfast spot, romantic dinner or looking for a great cocktail, this place has you covered. And just this week, The Wild Son launched an oyster happy hour, MondayFriday from 4pm-7pm — looks like yet another excuse to stop by, right?
