Teysha, an artisan crafted shoe line, has traveled to New York City with the mission, “Keep Earth Weird.” Based out of Texas and manufactured in beautiful Guatemala, Teysha is a shoe line that concentrates on people. As stated on their website, the company’s mission is to “connect people through art, community, and culture, and cultivate a more vibrant world.” DOWNTOWN had the pleasure to meet with Teysha at Chelsea Market, where we were presented with a plethora of shoes that accurately reflected this mission. The vibrant colors, beautiful designs, and earthy energy of the brand are a breath of fresh air for those living in New York City.
In addition to Teysha’s innovative spirit, the brand’s website allows customers to personalize each pair they purchase. All of their textiles are handcrafted and brought to life by weavers based in Guatamala, Panama, and South America. The colors of the textiles reflect daily life in these communities; Teysha is bringing this thriving artistic culture to the U.S.
Teysha’s brand stands out from the rest with their Global Village Initiative, which aims to support healthy minds, bodies, economies and ecosystems, both locally and globally. The company strives to make a difference in the world by bettering living conditions. A portion of Teyshas’ proceeds go to providing educational opportunities, increasing food security, creating access to appropriate technologies, initiating sustainable agricultural practices, and reforestation.
Teysha shoes are a must-have for everyone’s closet this year. From their customized boots, to their flats and sandals, they are perfect for every season. Be sure to check out their website and start customizing your perfect fall look!
