Nicola Formichetti displays his new line for Diesel on the runway in Venice for Fall/Winter 2014-2015
Former Lady Gaga stylist and Mugler Creative Director Nicola Fornichetti debuted his first collection for Diesel last week in Venice.
A year after working as the artistic director for the brand, Formichetti finally gets the opportunity launch his own collection inspired by the punk rock, new wave themed stores in London.
The collection is also influenced by military looks, street gangs and other fashion tribes. Formichetti’s marching unis of models offers an edgy and rebellious approach to traditional runway presentations.
Formichetti took the three main themes that Diesel is best known for—leather, denim and military wear— and divided up the show into three sections—one for each category.
“There is everything, from classic to sexy, but it’s all so wearable,” the hot new designer told Women’s Wear Daily.
“This is not just a runway show; this is what we want to be in the next 10 years,” Diesel founder Renzo Rosso told WWD. “We want to be the contemporary alternative to the world of luxury – no more frivolous things. We want to deliver a very precise image.”
