Temperatures were well below 32 degrees today in Lower Manhattan, but that certainly didn’t stop the DOWNTOWN team from opening up our freezer and finding ourselves a treat. We combatted some serious brain freezes, but it was well worth it with Ruby Rocket’s ice pops. These frozen treats aren’t your ordinary ice pops; they’re 30 calories a piece and contain only 4 grams of natural sugar! It was love at first taste, as our taste buds danced in harmony and we anticipated summer more than ever with Ruby Rocket’s.

Founded by Wendy Makkena, Ruby Rocket’s ice pops are all natural, derived from organic fruits and vegetables. Designed with kids in mind, these ice pops hold true to the sentiment that kids can eat healthily. They don’t contain any genetically modified ingredients, no artificial coloring, no chemicals, and no preservatives. Also, the only sugar in them comes naturally from the ingredients used! Children are typically skeptical when it comes to eating vegetables or fruits…let’s admit it, we all went through that phase. Only our generation didn’t have such a tasty solution to satisfy our hunger and our sweet tooth simultaneously.

These palatable super pops taste great and they’re good for you. Each ice pop varies with ingredients we all love such as sweet potato, pineapple, butternut squash, strawberries, carrots and mangoes, just to name a few. The combinations of each fruit and vegetable are complimentary of one another, which produce the perfect balance of flavor.

The pops we ate had playful names like Planetary Pink Lemonade, Far Out Fudge, and Meteorite Mango. Do yourself and a your kids a favor and try Ruby Rocket’s ice pops. They’re a fun treat the entire family can enjoy without an ounce of guilt. Truly, the only thing that could’ve stopped the DOWNTOWN magazine staff from having seconds were those inevitable brain freezes!
