Highly appraised pastry chef Francois Payard is the genius mastermind behind the new dessert that so many haven’t stopped raving about: the macaron donut, or as it is listed on the Francois Payard website, the “Macaronut.”
To many of you in disbelief, the pastry is exactly what you think it is. It is a donut combined with everything you also enjoy about a quality macaron. In a recent interview with Francois, he mentions that his innovative little pastry was inspired by the American ‘Hybrid’ food trends and that he has been tempted to experiment with this concept while also wanting to stay true to his French cuisine roots.
The first flavor that is projected to be released on March 20th will be a strawberry cream infused duo. Payard also plans to experiment with new flavors in the meantime to release as he surveys the demand and success of his new creation and can be found in any of Payard’s bakery locations all over the New York City area!
