Lower Manhattan is reputable for having one of the best culinary scenes in the world. Foodies from all over venture to TriBeCa, Little Italy, Chelsea and neighboring districts to indulge in New York staples, like bagels and cheese pizza. Others come for the wide selection of Asian cuisine, or traditional American eats (e.g., diner food and burger joints).
Whatever taste you are craving, downtown has—but what sets our city’s culinary scene apart from others is that any fare you can eat during the day, you can also find at 1 a.m. Here are restaurants to get late-night grub at that Downtown recommends.
Big Daddy’s: A diner established in 1969 that serves traditional American food and specializes in burgers, tater tots and milkshakes. They are located downtown in Gramercy Park on Park Ave. and are open until 12 a.m. on weeknights and until 5 a.m. on weekends. Come hungry.
Blue Ribbon Sushi: A sushi eatery located downtown on Sullivan St. open seven days a week until 2 a.m. Try their spicy fish soup, shrimp shumai or green tea crème brulee.
The Spotted Pig: A seasonal British and Italian restaurant located downtown on 11th St. Feel free to be adventurous here, as The Spotted Pig was established by several celebrity chefs and is a seven-year Michelin star winner. They are open every night until 2 a.m.
Decoy: A Chinese restaurant located downtown in the West Village on Hudson St. They are prominent for their Peking duck and meat dumplings, and serve bar snacks until 1:45 a.m. nightly.
Bagel Boss: A chain bagel shop located downtown on 1st Ave. that has mastered the New York bagel. They also make flagels (flat bagels), salads, baked goods, and are open 24/7.
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza: One of the top late-night pizzerias in New York—Artichoke is open daily until 5 a.m. and will be just as crowded at midnight as it will be around dinner time. Try any slice with artichoke on it at any of their three locations downtown.
