This Memorial Day weekend, while we’re enjoying ourselves, barbecuing outdoors with our families, let’s not forget our most beloved family member: our four legged friends. The weather will be prime this weekend to soak in the sun, but remember you need to take preventative measures to keep our furry friends safe! Keep water around to eliminate the risk of dehydration and do not, under any circumstances, leave your pets in the car. Much like humans, the encapsulated heat could do serious damage to your dog’s health from the lack of oxygen.

Most importantly, have fun. You’re all your pet has in this world, so throw around a frisbee, play fetch, or just lounge outdoors with your pup. Show them they’re an asset to the family and give them the ‘pawper’ love they deserve!

Not only is Memorial Day this month, but May is also Pet Cancer Prevention month, so please keep an eye out for the common symptoms that may indicate trouble is brewing.

  • Swollen Lymph Nodes
  • An enlarging or changing lump
  • Abdominal distension
  • Unexplained bleeding
  • Lameness
  • Straining when urinating

And remember, groomers can help in checking for cancer, as they routinely check each pet thoroughly to make sure that the pet does not exhibit any abnormalities. In the event that something is detected, you’d be advise to consult with a medical professional.

–From our friends at Le Pet Spa, be sure to check them out at 300 Rector Place!
