“So much to do, so little time,” is truly the essence of a weekend getaway. It’s only too often that a highly anticipated weekend escape turns into a chore, leaving us drained and exhausted by the time Monday roles around. More often than not, we come home dreaming of relaxation and in need of a real holiday.

Sure, a mere two day getaway doesn’t lend itself to an extravagant expedition, however there are ways to minimise stress, maximise relaxation, all while enjoying the glorious sunshine. So for your next weekend escape, leave the upstate ski slopes behind, its time to head south for some much needed sun, sand, and sea!

In just three hours, probably less time than it would take to get to South Hampton in Friday afternoon rush hour traffic, you can be all the way in South Beach, Miami, boarding the Norwegian Sky, the youngest ship sailing a weekend cruise to the Bahamas.

Come 5pm, the ship departs for Great Stirrup Cay, and its time to relax, rejuvenate and explore your new surrounds. There is something for everyone, with ten dining options, eleven bars and lounges, an onboard spa, casino and sun drenched pool. Watch the sun rise over the Caribbean before docking and spending the day in the eco-fun private island destination of Great Stirrup Cay. From parasailing to jet skiing and snorkelling in the clear waters of the reef, the cruise recommends several guided activities to undertake in each destination.

Arrive in Nassau on Sunday morning and spend the day exploring the eclectic city. Make sure you take advantage of the duty free shopping and pay a visit to the spectacular Atlantic Paradise Island Resort. If the kids are in tow Atlantis Aquaventure could be the highlight of the trip, offering a 141 acre state of the art water park.

Arrive back in Miami early Monday morning, allowing you ample travel time to make it back to NYC for that important lunch meeting. From just $179 you can enjoy 3 nights aboard this state of the art Norwegian Cruise Lines ship, spending your days exploring all the Bahamas has to offer. There are several accommodation options to choose from, and best of all everything is only a deck or two away. So sit back, relax, and soak up the sunshine on this fantastic Bahamas cruise!
