After being decreed by de Blasio at the beginning of last year, the IDNYC is available for all New York residents above the age of 14 to apply for and take advantage of. In addition to being a tangible embodiment of New York regional pride, the IDNYC allows cardholders access to schools, public libraries, and allows them to open bank accounts. Along with these benefits, cardholders can also sign up for a free one-year membership to some of the cities most noted attractions (think the Met, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall.) In light of this great benefit, perfect for culture and history buffs, we have highlighted a few attractions that you can take advantage of in the downtown area with your IDNYC.
The Museum of Jewish Heritage:
This Museum highlights the various facets of Jewish history through expeditions as well as films, discussions, and more. The museum can be found at 36 Battery Place.

The Public Theater:
For over 60 years, The Public Theatre has been entertaining audience with shows spanning from Shakespeare to musicals to contemporary theatre. The space is at 425 Lafayette Street and features 5 theaters.

The New York Public Library Mulberry St Branch:
With an IDNYC, cardholders can access any public library in New York, Brooklyn, and Queens. The Mulberry Street Library is located at 10 Jersey St. and is a branch of the country’s biggest public library system. The library offers books, DVDs, computers, and, a precious resource among New Yorkers, WiFi.
