Union Square Holiday Market Gets Upgraded!

by | Nov 5, 2015 | Coming Up, Events

The Union Square Holiday Market has always been an excellent place to source unique gifts for friends and family, but this year it’s about to get better. Not only will more vendors be included, but a new roster of programming will make the market even more festive.

This year, the list of vendors will expand the “Little Brooklyn” section to include more local artisans from the popular borough, like Two Arms Inc. and Boneyard Pets. This year, the market is introducing a curated aisle called “Urbanspace Provicions” which will featured local pantry supplies, kitchenware and home goods. Vendors in the aisle will include the Truffleist and Strand Bookstore among many more.

Decoration-wise, the 2015 Holiday Market will have new custom lighting displays and fresh greenery from Van Houten Farms. The best part is that the market is including a warming station around the statue of George Washington so shoppers can keep warm as they peruse holiday goods.

The market has also partnered with the Children’s Museum of the Arts to create an art station for kids to craft wrapping paper, make ornaments and decorate cookies for a suggested donation. Ornaments made here will be displayed all over the market. Crafting activities will occur after school from 3pm-7pm during the weekdays and 11am to 7pm on the weekends.

The market is also featuring two performance stages, one near 14th street and Union Square West, the other near 17th street, to showcase independent acts. Market Stage will include independent acts like interesting subway buskers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while the Pavilion Stage will showcase family-friendly activities like children’s choir on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There will also be a public Carol Sing on Thursday, December 17 at 6pm; the market will provide the music for guests to sing to.

The market will be open from November 19 to December 24. For more information on the Union Square Holiday Market, click here.
