Screen Shot 2016-02-24 at 11.10.52 AMThis Sunday, February 28, Olympians and US National Champians,  will present their 15th Anniversary on Ice Show on The Rink at Brookfield Place. The show will also feature other figure skating icons, including Jeremy Abbott, Mirai Nagasu, Allison Reed, and Kristin Fraser & Igor Lukanin. Registered participants will also get the chance to “Skate with the Stars” following the event.

The ice show will be a celebration of Gregory and Petukhov’s partnership, both on and off the ice. The two are married and have a 15 month old son named Daxton.

“Parenthood has changed our lives and our relationship,” explains the pair, “It is the best thing in the world and brought us closer together.”

They are also excited to be skating in New York, where they both love to visit during training sessions:

“We have never lived or had a residence in NY but we love NY and love the culture. When we were training we would take the train to NYC from CT to take dance classes, see Broadway’s shows and also shop! We also have our costume designers here so would often come for fittings. Now we are thrilled to be at Brookfield Place and have it as our second home! We can definitely see ourselves living in NY, especially downtown!”

In additional to their athletic repertoire, the pair also founded Proud Nation Inc., a nonprofit aimed at getting children more involved in sports. Partnering with the U.S. Olympic Committee and US Figure Skating, the nonprofit provides resources to schools/ recreation departments to increase youth participation in sports and skating.

When asked about their advice to children who want to get involved in sports, the pair stated, “Get involved in and try skating because it is a very well balanced sport for child development. It is one of the sports that uses many forms of sport and art in one. Music, dance, fashion, athletics are all components that goes into our sport. These are all things that we will be bringing and showcasing at our show on Sunday night at Brookfield Place! We encourage children to get involved in any sport, make it their lifestyle and stick with it. Sport can and should be a lifelong skill and passion, as it is for us!”
