As a follow-up to last year’s Downtown piece on the Long Beach International Film Festival, the festival is even stronger this year for its 5th annual run. Said City Manager Jack Schnirman of sponsoring the event: “We are proud to be a sponsor and offer all the support we can. This is an event that we look forward to every summer — it truly epitomizes the Long Beach Life.”

Beyond the films showing at Long Beach Cinema 4 — I personally recommend Jesse Shapiro’s Nobody Walks In LA, which is receiving its East Coast premiere — there is lots going on for fans of live music and fine cuisine.

Concert On The Beach set times:

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Groundswell
5:15 PM – 5:30 PM – Joe Horowitz
5:45 PM – 6:00 PM – The Annie Minogue Band
6:15 PM – 6:30 PM – Robbie Rosen
6:45 PM – 7:00 PM – Raquel Castro
7:15 PM – 7:30 PM – The Janes
7:45 PM – 8:15 PM – Brooke Moriber
8:30 PM – 8:50 PM – Inas X
8:55 PM – 9:00 PM – Marissa Ann

Taste On The Beach will run from 6:00 PM through 9:00 PM, including a wide variety of food, wine and craft beer, as found on the beach. Participants include Morton’s The Steakhouse, Piecraft, The Garden City Hotel, Swingbelly’s BBQ, Carlyle Off The Green, and Lola’s Kitchen & Wine Bar. The event will benefit local charity, the Long Beach Food & Friendship INN.

For those keeping the party going after they have enjoyed Taste On The Beach, there are short films showing on the beachfront by the Allegria Hotel from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Immediately after 10:30 PM, there are the Filmmaker Awards on the Allegria Hotel’s Rooftop. The Closing Night After-Party begins at 11:00 PM on that same rooftop.
