Shelter chic, founded in 2014, is an organization that is fighting a very important cause; to find neglected animals a home. The boutique, which is to be located at 79 Chambers Street, celebrated its opening today and features a number of different designers.

Here is a few of them:

-Le Roar luxury pet beds and accessories (co-founded by Lucy Liu)
-Arm the Animals (funny t-shirts and tank tops that help raise funds
for animal shelters)
-Mia Loves Jay (beautiful cushions and greeting cards handmade in Ireland)
-Bean Goods (variety of adorable items for all of the
dachshund-lovers out there)
-Dog Threads (fashionable dog clothes handmade in Minneapolis)
-Haute Diggity Dog (hilarious parody plush dog toys)
-Little Bear (popular trends for dogs handmade in the USA)
-Billy Wolf (high end dog clothing and accessories made in the USA)
-BK Atelier (vegan dog carriers, collars and leashes)
-See Scout Sleep (environmentally and pet friendly collars, leashes and beds)
-Little L’s (all natural artisan dog treats)
-Maison de Pawz (gluten-free, grain-free all natural dog biscuits)
-Good Girl Gidget (Rescue Tees made in Denver)

The price range will be affordable from $5.00-$220 depending on the item and the designer.

The animals that are up for adoption will be available in the store during business hours. The store will also be hosting adoption events. If you are interested in adopting an animal, you can fill out an application on their website and make sure to email  info@shelterchic.org.

The adoption process is fairly easy. Someone from shelter chic will contact you for a phone interview and will request a reference check. Then arrangements will be made so that the person interested can meet the animal in person.

Shelter Chic is very committed to finding animals a home. This is why they have developed a “foster to adopt,” process which guarantees that the animal will find a permanent home. Shelter Chic wants to avoid the animals going from one home to the next.  “When someone signs up to foster they must commit to a period of no less than two weeks at minimum!” states Brittany Feldman, president and co-founder of Shelter Chic.

Their mission is very straight forward. As stated on their website,”Shelter Chic strives to educate the public about the importance of adoption and other issues relating to animal warfare in a friendly and fun way.”

This store will definitely excite the public.

A customer states,  “As soon as you walk in to Shelter Chic, you will feel happy because of the funky atmosphere. Leopard print litter boxes, quirky t-shirts for the employees and the best part is that the animals will all be dressed to impress. . .This shelter will leave you with a sense of happiness and joy not sadness.”

The best part is that its all for the cause. 100% of the income from the boutique will go back into finding the animals a home.
