Downtown Magazine-NY Travel Show 2

Want to travel but can’t get out of New York? This weekend from Friday through Sunday, The New York Times Travel Show is at the Javits Center to give those with wanderlust a taste of the world.

This three-day event has been running for twelve years and is the world’s largest trade and consumer travel show in the country, according to Michael Carroll, director of advertising at The New York Times. Every year around 23,000 people of every travel style head to the Javits Center to grab deals, meet other travelers, and listen to seminars.

Visitors can stroll around a hall stuffed with booths, picking up brochures and information from different companies. All day long, raffles and gifts will be offered, giving a lucky few a chance to live out their dream vacation. People can even book tours right at the event using some exclusive The New York Times Travel Show deals and offers. Carroll said that this year’s event has hit a record number of exhibitors: there will be over 500 total. There’s even a new country being thrown into the mix, with five exhibitors promoting travel in Cuba.

But The New York Times understands that travelling isn’t just about the tours; it’s also about experiencing different culinary cuisines. Starting Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. Italian breakfast, foodies can taste cuisines from around the world cooked by celebrity chefs such as David Arnold, the founder of the Museum of Food and Drink. This year kids will also be welcome with the new Taste of the World-Kids Kitchen. Children can watch fun cooking experiments, learn about healthy eating, and sample delicious food catered just to them.

Travelers can attend this weekend event by purchasing tickets at https://www.xpressreg.net/register/nytt015/start.asp. Consumer tickets are $17 and children 18 years old and younger can attend for free.
