Across the city skyline, viewable along the Hudson River, gracefully pranced three sets of talented dancers offering a variety of contemporary, modern, and Latin infused sets from Parsons Dance, Ballet Hispanico, and Paul Taylor Dance.

Leading the show, Parsons Dance performed their 1990s piece “Nascimento” inspired by artist Milton Nascimento and choreographed by David Parsons. In the Brazilian inspired piece, dancers — Sarah Braverman, Ian Spring, Jason McDonald, Christina Ilisije, Elena D’amario, Geena Pacareu, Omar Roman De Jesus, and Eoghan Dillon — gracefully moved across the stage in an emotion packed ballad, wearing pastels of pink, greens, and purples to compliment the vibrant sounds and culture of Brazil.

Next to take the stage was Ballet Hispanico performing its all male 2013 Sombrerísimo piece choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Dancers — Christopher Bloom, Mario Ismael Espinoza, Mark Gieringer, Christopher Hernandez, Johan Rivera Mendez, and Joshua Winzeler — expressed the distinction between dreams and realism and the search for identity, using bowler hats inspired by painter René Magritte.

Paul Taylor’s Dance Company closed the show with a blast from the past ballad, Company B, inspired by the vintage fashion and the griefs and joys during War World II. Dancers — Robert Kleinendorst, James Samson, Michelle Fleet, Sean Mahoney, Eran Bugge, Francisco Graciano, Laura Halzack, Jamie Rae Walker, Michael Apuzzo, Heather McGinley, George Smallwood, Christina Lynch Markham, and Madelyn Ho — swang and boogied to various songs by the American singing group, the Andrew Sisters.
