Olio e Piú Brings Italy to Greenwich Village

Dining in the summer adds another criteria to the all-important life decision: is there outdoor seating? We all want somewhere to sit outside, while eating good food and watching the city go by.

The Italian restaurant Olio e Piú is the perfect choice to fill this criteria with its 45-seat open patio, offering Neapolitan cuisine in the heart of Greenwich Village. The colorful restaurant can’t be missed, surrounded by flowers and greenery where 6th and Greenwich avenues meet Christopher street.

It might be Summer, but that doesn’t mean we want to eat salads every day of the week. Carbs are good for the soul, and at Olio e Piú the pasta-bilities are endless — sorry, we had to. The menu consists of classic Italian dishes, from house-made pastas to insalate and antipasti.

The spaghetti alla carbonara is an absolute winner, with prosciutto pieces in a creamy rich sauce, topped with an egg and sprinkled with parmesan. Other great pasta options are the gnocchi ai porcini served in a gorgonzola cream, a classic tagliatelle bolognese and ravioli ai funghi in heavenly truffle butter and all the mushrooms. Olio e Piú also offers the Neapolitan style pizza, baked in the traditional wood-fired oven. However, the soft puffy crust isn’t for everyone, contrasting the holy NYC pizza slice. But Olio e Piú’s pastas will please anyone, because you can’t be upsetti while you’re eating spaghetti!
