We’re officially one week away from the ever-anticipated return of New York Fashion Week. Except this year, attendee’s won’t be traveling over to Lincoln Center to watch the sartorial likes of Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Zac Posen and many other designers unveil their Spring/Summer 2016 collections, as locations have scaled down south.
On September 10th, attendee’s will be gallivanting downtown at multiple locations depending on the show-runner; Skylight at the Moynihan station and Skylight Clarkson Square will indefinitely be home to this seasons WME-IMG shows, while the Council of Fashion Designers Association (CFDA) shows are scattered at venues like Highline Stages and ArtBeam on 21st.
While the traditionalist, fashion giants will be at the aforementioned locale’s, a strew of independent designers will have their runway collections dispersed across the city in private showrooms.
The transition from Lincoln Center to shuffling between multiple residencies is only temporary. Hudson Yards, at West 30th street, is slated to open in 2017, and may be the next concrete location to house the runway shows. Their ‘Culture Shed’ includes multiple runways and studios, prime for hosting the biannual events.
As for Mercedes Benz, no longer being the primary crown-wearer, leaves NYFW to the CFDA or IMG to be the front-runners. As for next week, the shows are divided among the two, plus independents.
Stay tuned these next following weeks for Downtown’s, downtown coverage, and an inside look at the designers, collections, and backstage beauty!
If you’re not attending, you can still experience the runway at home or on-the-go with IMG’s live stream series.
