Living amongst the hustle and bustle of New York City, we occasionally need to take a break and relax, sometimes even with a spa day. We’ve raved about Ling Spa before, but this time I went in for one of their special treatments: the energy lift acupressure massage. Upon walking in you will find an all white, immaculate salon and will be greeted by friendly faces right away.

The lovely Anne greeted me and walked me back to the serene room where she would perform the energy lift acupressure massage on me.

First, she applied ginger oil all over my back, legs, and arms and then massaged the oil into my skin. She used certain techniques and motions that hit specific pressure points and I felt immediate relaxation and relief. Next, she applied a hydrating body oil using the same methods. Last but not least, Anne took out hot stones and set them quickly and carefully all over my body for some additional, heavier pressure. After all these steps were complete, I flipped over and she repeated the process all over again. When I got up to leave, I genuinely felt like I was going to drop to the ground and fall asleep. Throughout the massage, I didn’t even realize how relaxed I was. It is afterwards when you really feel the effects hit you. It’s incredible. Yes, it is called the “energy lift” massage, but you are supposed to take a small nap afterwards and then when you wake up, you will feel re-energized.

At Ling Spa they also have an amazing hidden gem, literally. The owner Ling Chan has created the Jade Roller, made of 100% jade stone. The purpose of the roller is to smooth fine lines around your eyes and forehead as it releases tension. The jade stone is actually known for drawing out negative Qi, the tension and stress stored in your face, thus accelerating the aging process.

I decided to give the roller a try as soon as I heard it how it works. I’ve noticed that my face is the puffiest in the morning, especially around my eye area.

So, I put the jade roller to the test. I started last night as I was very anxious to try it. I washed my face and immediately started to use the roller in an upward motion from my neck up, focusing on the area under my eyes. Initially the stone felt cold, but refreshing. It also felt relaxing as I massaged the smooth stone all over my face. As you continue to press the stone on your skin, you feel it heating up from the constant motion. I could feel and visibly see the increase in circulation in my face as it turned a bit flushed. I saw results immediately. I knew from previous research that any cold compress “depuffs,” but the combination of the cold with jade stone really does the trick. This morning, I woke up and I was even more curious. I did my regular morning routine, applied my moisturizer and then started rolling the jade roller on my face again in the same motions. I was truly impressed as the results were even more noticeable! As I stated previously, mornings are when my face tends to be a bit more blown, so rolling this on my face before starting the day made me feel like a brand new person.

If you’re looking for some time to unwind and recharge, I highly recommend taking the time to go to Ling Spa where professionals take the best care of their clients for effective results.
