On May 7, Hanro of Switzerland was proud to unveil a mural by the French Fashion Illustrator and Artist Izak Zenou. At an intimate VIP event at the Hanro Flagship store in the Meatpacking District, hosts Nigel Barker, Selita Ebanks and Fiona Burns celebrated Zenou and his mural with select guests as well as Hanro of Switzerland’s US President Jan Snodgrass.

“I love the brand because it’s truly understated luxury. When they approached me to ask if I could create a mural on the walls of their flagship store, I was both excited and a bit nervous,” Zenou said.

The store stayed open to the public during the time Zenou painted the mural. Some people came in to shop at the store and stumbled across him painting while others came in just to see what was happening at the store, and Zenou happily talked to the customers and by passers as he worked on the mural. At night the VIP event’s several notable guests all marveled over Zenou’s artwork.
“When I went to look at the space, the brand’s president Jan Snodgrass explained to me that he wanted me to be the first artist to paint right on the walls and create a custom mural. I thought, ‘Well, it’s either going to be a big success or a huge mess.’ But he had faith, so how could I say no?” explained Zenou.

The mural shows off Zenou’s eye for stylish women, the female body and the spirited women who inspire him and is produced with Hanro’s heritage in mind. With soft strokes and a muted palette, the mural is a delightful work of art and compliments Hanro’s of Switzerland brand of lingerie as well the old industrial building, in which the store is located, perfectly.
The mural will be on display at the Flagship store located on 806 Washington Street for the next year.
