Renowned New York Developer and athlete, Elie Hirschfeld finished out the summer season with anther stunning performance in the prestigious North Coast Subaru Mighty Hamptons Triathlon on Sunday.
Hirschfeld placed an impressive second in his age category of 65 to 69-years and in the top 29 percent for ALL finishers, finishing the Olympic Distance competition in two-hours, 56 minutes and nine seconds.
Nine hundred and ten competitors from across the globe competed in the 1.5 mile swim, 40 kilometer bike ride and 10K run at Foster Memorial Beach under perfect weather conditions in Sag Harbor.
“This is a great event with top competitors, so I am please to have participated, let alone with my performance,” says Hirschfeld, 65.
Hirschfeld beat his previous best in this event by an astounding 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
The event honored the passing of longtime race director Steve Tarpinian, earlier this year.
“This was a tremendous competition and fitting tribute to a man who helped build the sport of triathlon on Long Island,” said Hirschfeld.
“It was an honor to be a part of it.”
