DOWNTOWN representatives were on the ground Thursday for the Desigual runway fashion show during the Mercedes-Benz fashion week event. The Desigual fashion show known for being fun, flirty and joyous was no different this time. The name of the collection “Say Something Nice” was supported by the motto, “What better way to say something nice than with flowers?

For Spring/Summer 2015, Desigual and the recognized French fashion Monsieur Christian Lacroix, have magnified this timeless tradition by giving bouquets to all women in the world with their new “Happy Casual” collection.

Inspired by nature’s flora and fauna, this season presents a colorful, multi-cultural bouquet. A cool Mediterranean spirit is combined with South American motifs; classic English garden blooms meet the Iberian Peninsula’s landscape and a western countryside influenced by sweeping European geometry.

The collection celebrates the season’s warm weather with daisies in bloom, desert roses, tropical hibiscus and Mexican dahlias, flowers freshly cut from an imaginary garden. Jade, white and onyx tones serve as the backdrop and each piece is lush with poppy red, saffron or teal, creating looks reminiscent of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon or the underwater vegetation of Atlantis.

“A blossoming kaleidoscope, the collection is a gift meant to inspire happiness, one bloom at a time.” – Desigual description of the fashion show.
