During my extensive search to unearth delicious summer treats that were whipped with originality, rolled with creativity and sprinkled with a little panache, I found myself eye-to-eye with Cookie DŌ NYC.

CookieDOnyc_promoI remember being a child making cookies with my parents and sneaking the raw dough under the table until my mom would catch me and yell out, “That’s how you get salmonella-poisoning young lady!”

Thankfully, I matured and stopped sneaking raw dough years ago.

Well, except for that time last month when I annihilated those uncooked sugar cookies with the reindeers on them. And also the time after that with those ones with the peanut butter chips. Oh and also…what was I saying again?

I didn’t know what salmonella meant and clearly still don’t. My mom also probably never referred to me as “young lady,” but you get the idea.

Thanks to Kristen Tomlan, founder of DŌ, we can eat all the raw cookies we desire!nlgDŌ, Cookie Dough Confections is a line of edible cookie dough based treats made with the highest quality ingredients and zero preservatives. With over 20 handcrafted flavors, the company’s offerings range from s’mores to confetti to oatmeal and everything in between. Not to mention all of the gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options for those DŌ lovers out there with dietary restrictions.

Kristen, a fellow gluten-intolerant foodie, describes her love for baking as a “therapy of sorts” where she can hash out the stresses of everyday into creating new flavors and recipes to share.

The idea for DŌ sparked during a girls weekend in Philadelphia. Thanks to a stage 5 case of sugar cravings, the ladies raced for a frozen tub of raw cookie dough. Followed by some banter, “we passed around the tub, loving every bite and laughing about the lack of cookie dough designed solely for eating in its pure form. From there, DŌ was born.”

The coolest part about DŌ lies in its versatility. Not only can you customize your edible dough and enjoy it straight out of the carton, with the cute little wooden spoons they give you as an added #bonus. But you can also bake the dough into cookies or cakes, use it for ice cream sandwiches, and even roll them up and dip them into melted chocolate for a little DŌ truffle action.
