Follow fourth of July festivities with a celebration of Bastille Day, France’s Independence Day, at Brookfield Place July 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Brookfield Place will host a summer fete – a full day of music, games, perfect for family fun. French eatery and marketplace, Le District will hold promotions in celebration of French food and culture, some of which include a Ricard bar, specialty picnic baskets and a roving ice cream cart.
The plaza will host a “Tour de France” spin class with stationary bikes by fitness club, Equinox.
The day-long celebration will incorporate more activities suitable for all ages: live music performances, and Parkour demonstrations/ lessons.
Caricaturists will be on site for portraits along Brookfield Place’s own La Seine (the Waterfront) where picnic baskets will be provided by Le District for guests’ pleasure.
A Montmartre will be propped in the Music Garden for music by musicians and retailer activations.
Visit the Champs Élysées on 230 Vesey St. (the second level shopping) for children’s storytelling by Posman Books, French lessons by Bilingual Birdies, and a one-act performance of Sleeping Beauty by the New York Theater Ballet.
Brasserie Hudson Eats will screen French films throughout the day.
All events are open to the public for free. Food and drinks are for purchase.
