Union Square (Union Square)
Daily from 11am-8pm (through Thurs, Dec 24th)
Pitching their candy cane tents, the return of the Union Square Holiday Market makes it clear the holidays are here. The eclectic selections of handmade, local and artisanal gifts (everything from soaps, books and jewelry to ceramics, chocolates and sweaters) at this outdoor market will surely impress even the most eccentric person on your gift list. And, as a reward for getting your Christmas shopping done early, swing by Doughnuttery for a hot cider and a doughnut.
2. Thanksgiving in a Single Bite
Milk Bar (all locations)
Daily
You don’t have to wait until the 26th to fall back on the couch in a turkey induced coma. If you need your turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce fix right now, then just head to Milk Bar where your favorite meal has been neatly stuffed in a flaky croissant crust. You heard right… for the entire month of November you can gobble up the Thanksgiving Croissant at all Milk Bar locations.
3. Stark Nude Winter Wonderland

Team Gallery (SOHO)
Tues-Sat 10am-6pm; Sun 12-6pm (Through December 20th)
At 25, Ryan McGinley was one of the youngest artists to have a solo show at the Whitney. At 38, he continues to produce work that’s spellbinding. His most recent show at the Team Gallery, entitled Winter, is a series of large format photos (all taken on the East Coast) of nude models, their limbs scratched or bruised, reclining, standing and disappearing in epic glacial landscapes. FREE
Flatiron Public Plaza (Flatiron)
November 18th at 6pm (check site for additional dates and events)
The night sky won’t fall on November 18th, but we’ll see the installation of celestial beauty Nova by Softlab at the Flatiron Public Plaza. The crystalline Nova will serve as the focal point of the annual “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” where those that stop by can take a break from holiday shopping to enjoy live performances, ugly holiday sweater competitions, free gift wrapping and many other cheery activities for adults and kids. FREE
5. Boozy Shakes and Pies
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer (Soho)
Daily for lunch and Dinner
With the weather being haywire this November, it’s hard to know whether to reach for a warm pumpkin pie or a cool vanilla milkshake. There is no need to renounce either, instead sip on The Pumpkin Pie Milkshake from Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer. The best part is that the homemade pumpkin pie, vanilla ice cream, maple syrup blend is generously doused with Myers’s Dark Rum.
6. Autumn Wine
Broad Street Ballroom (Financial District)
Sat, Nov 21st from 3-6pm and 8-11pm
Why is it that we can never get sick of wine tasting events? In part because there are endless varieties and blends to learn about and taste, of course. The Autumn Wine Festival will uncork over 175 bottles of fine wine from every part of the world to provide winos (like ourselves) with a trip around the globe, buoyed by delectable bites and smooth jazz. $99
7. Modern Barn Dining
Black Barn (Flatiron)
Daily for lunch and dinner
If fall brings to mind winding roads, barns and farm-fresh, home-cooked meals, but you just can’t bring yourself to leave Manhattan, look no further than the new Black Barn for your idyllic setting, albeit very much in that edgy New York City style. The modern barn interior is as vast as it is inviting and warm–vaulted ceilings, wood floors, grainy leather, concrete columns and vintage farm utensils. The farm-to-table (with distinct Italian leanings) menu includes the irresistible Grilled Corn Salad, Curried Cauliflower Steak, the Porchetta with broccoli rabe and the Orange Eclair.
