On March 26th, in addition to observing National Manatee Day, we’ll be celebrating the long-awaited grand opening of Brookfield Place near One World Trade. Touted as a much-needed shopping and dining hub, the center will help revitalize a part of the city that is often only associated with wealthy financiers and cobblestone streets. Though many expressed doubt that the space would reach full occupancy — considering that in October 2013, the neighboring World Financial Center stood at 41% vacancy — Brookfield Place is filled with high-end luxury shops including Salvatore Ferragamo, Theory, and Hermés. Guests will have prime views of the Hudson Waterfront and the Powerhouse Arts District in New Jersey, as the complex is located directly above the waterfront. We couldn’t be more excited about this new addition to downtown Manhattan!

Developers made sure to create a section of the establishment for cultural exhibitions. There have already been a few performances in the space, but once the building officially opens, (and once the weather gets warmer!), the place will be teeming with film, music, and art productions.

Our favorite aspect of the new space, of course, are the dining options. Much of the money from the $250 million renovation went toward the construction of a European-style food court. If you haven’t already visited, Hudson Eats opened in June 2014. The cafeteria, which was part of the first phase of the area’s facelift, features over ten different fast-casual eateries. More will be opening this spring and summer. We’re anxiously anticipating the arrival Le District, a bustling marketplace that will sell coffee, cheese, and other French-inspired goodies. The center will also have an outdoor seating area that will be perfect for those enjoying those highly-coveted blissfully sunny New York afternoons. Parm, Amada, and L’Atelier will open their doors this spring, too.

Brookfield Place will be the new one-stop shop for all of our dining, fashion, and artistic needs. We can’t wait to see what other surprises will pop up in the space over the next few months!
