In a period where love for New York City is at an all time high—and low—NYCxDesign has announced a timely message of hope and perseverance. In the spirit of Milton Glaser’s “I LOVE NY” emblem, the design-driven organization’s new poster campaign, aptly entitled An Ode to NYC, will launch city-wide on October 7th. With the underlying goal of spreading love and support for New York businesses, a group of incredibly talented local designers were tapped to create the artwork—many of them creative takes on classic New York loves. From representations depicting the perfect New York pizza to the Statue of Liberty’s welcoming silhouette, and subway murals to boot, it’s certainly a heartwarming reminder of just how inventive, creative, and accepting Gotham truly is.

The posters will be available for purchase through Poster House and will be displayed in showrooms, restaurants, and retail stores and will also be digitally projected in iconic New York City spots, including Fulton Center, the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center, and on-board the NYC Ferry fleet. The proceeds from the campaign will benefit the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG), a collective of independent Black artists, makers, and designers creating some of the most innovative products and spaces for a multitude of design environments.

The unprecedented collection of posters by New York-based designers includes talents such as Alison Rose, Jack Travis, Kati Curtis, Kelly Marshall, Leyden Lewis Design Studio, Lori Weitzner, Marie Burgos, Sara Bengur with Veronique Gambier, Suzanne Tick, and the team at 2×4, with many of the creatives partnering with local organizations to support the mission, including Dr. Carol Bentel on behalf of ICFF, Harry Allen and Giona Maiarelli on behalf of Design Pavilion, Jon Santos on behalf of Independent Lodging Congress, Lora Appleton on behalf of Female Design Council, Manuel Miranda on behalf of AIANY/Center for Architecture, Rodolfo Agrella on behalf of WantedDesign and Vincent Lin on behalf of IDSA NYC Chapter. A map will indicate all of the city-wide poster locations will be available at www.NYCxDESIGN.com on October 7th. Happy art hunting!
