On Saturday, June 2, Léman Manhattan Preparatory School honored its sixth graduating class. Before the ceremony, students walked the streets of the Financial District, a Léman tradition. The students posed for photos on the steps of Federal Hall, in front of the Charging Bull statue, and in front of the New York Stock Exchange.
During the graduation ceremony at the Broad Street Ballroom, proud parents, students and faculty celebrated the talented graduates. Caroline Netchvolodoff, Vice President of the Council on Foreign Relations, delivered the keynote address. Within her speech, Ms. Netchvolodoff encouraged students to strive for global literacy. Upper School Social Studies and IB Economics Teacher Mark Trebatch provided faculty remarks, and Esmé Ng ’18 gave the student speech.
This year celebrated 87 graduating seniors who will continue their education at top schools such as Yale University, Bates College, and Cornell University, to name a few. Léman is considered one of the best schools in regards to its curriculum and program standards. It is one of the only independent schools in Manhattan to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. This program is recognized worldwide as the standard for academic excellence, and is a sought-after credential by top colleges and universities.
