Sheldon Silver Honored At Opening of Downtown Hospital’s Health and Wellness Center

New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver received a plaque for his ongoing support for New York’s Downtown Hospital at ribbon-cutting ceremony, commemorating the new Wellness and Prevention Center.
The new facility, headed by Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Office Dr. Warren Licht, will offer some of the most advanced diagnostic and screening tools to patients in Lower Manhattan. The community-based program will be one of the first to follow evidence-based protocols to assess and establish individual patient treatment plans to help prevent or reduce diseases.

“Each patient will have a preliminary work-up performed by a Primary Care physician. Trained in a broad range of disease types, physicians will complete a formal medical history and perform a comprehensive physical,” according to Downtown Magazine Advisory Board Member, Dr. Licht, “Clinical findings will be developed into individual patient medical profiles with customized risk assessments and recommended treatment plans.”
Silver has long been a proponent of the facility and declared it an essential addition to the Downtown Community.

“As more and more people choose to make Lower Manhattan their home, the need for high-quality medical care in this neighborhood is greater than ever” said Silver during his acceptance speech. “By emphasizing preventative care, this new center is not only treating the sick, it is partnering with our community to fight illness and improve health before it’s too late.”
